Starting Objects
In your integration solution there may be certain objects must be started in order to test and use; the object can't perform its intended function until it has actually started, even after it has been promoted. Examples include File Monitors, Email Monitors, Database Monitors, Business Processes, and Web Service Providers.
File Monitors
File Monitors can be configured to monitor a specific directory and launch a related Event upon file detection; however the File monitor can't perform this function until it has actually been enabled through activation. While it's true that File Monitors can be configured to run as a service (meaning that it is activated upon system start - probably the most common approach to using this object in Production), the ability to activate (and deactivate) is the preferred method used when testing File Monitors as part of an overall Project.
File Monitors can be activated from with the Admin Console's Resource Monitors view. Please see Starting File Monitors to learn how.
Database Monitors
Database Monitors are started and stopped in two different ways: manually through the Admin Console, or from a Business Process task. The monitor must be deployed before activation can take place. Database Monitors can be activated from the Admin Console's Resource Monitors view. Please see Starting Database Monitors to learn how.
Email Receive Monitors
The Email Receive Monitor works by polling for and capturing data directly from an email attachment or email body. The data is passed to an Event, which launches a Business Process and begins the transformation process in Clarify.
Email Receive Monitors can be activated from with the Admin Console's Resource Monitors view. Please see Starting Email Receive Monitors to learn how.
Business Processes
Business Processes can be activated directly
from the Admin Console's Business Process
view . Use the Launch Business Process button to manually launch a selected
Business Process. A previously launched Business Process can also be launched using the
Relaunch Last Business Process button on the main menu bar of the Admin
Console.

Web Services
The Web Service Provider object helps you generate and configure certain resources that someone using your service will need in order to send you a request message.
Under the Resource Monitor Types section, select Web Service Provider. All deployed Provider objects should appear in the Resource Monitors section. Any object that has already been started will have a green indicator, while red indicators show that it has not started.
From the Resource Monitor section, select the Web Service Provider object you wish to
start and click Start ().
